What this treatment does
Urgent PC® delivers percutaneous tibial nerve stimulation (PTNS): a fine needle electrode near the ankle carries gentle impulses along the tibial nerve to the nerves that control bladder function. Over a course of treatments, those signals calm the overactivity behind urgency and leakage.
It is a strong option for patients who cannot tolerate bladder medications, whose medications stopped working, or who prefer a treatment with no systemic drug side effects.

Evaluation
A bladder diary, urinalysis, and post-void residual measurement confirm overactive bladder and rule out other causes such as infection or retention.

Initial course
Twelve weekly sessions of about thirty minutes each are performed in the office while you sit comfortably.

Maintenance
Responders continue on a spaced maintenance schedule to hold the improvement in place.
